India is constitutionally secular, but religion profoundly shapes social life. Christians are a small minority — and an even smaller minority among those who have had access to structured theological training.
Behind the numbers on faith lies a concrete reality: biblical training still hasn't reached most of those who already believe, and the gospel still hasn't reached millions who have never heard it.

India also appears frequently in reports from international organizations that track religious freedom around the world, due to cases of discrimination and violence against religious minorities. It's in this context — of real spiritual need and real risk for those who respond to it — that this project trains pastors to shepherd with biblical solidity.
States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan hold the country's highest population density and, historically, the smallest Christian presence — one of the reasons regions like West Bengal and Odisha, where this project works, are strategic points of access.

Hindi and English are the central government's official languages of use, but most Indians live, learn, and pray in the language of their own region. A theology course only truly trains pastors when it speaks their language.
